Work with Me
“[The class] was great and Mara was amazing. It really fostered a fun and creative environment at least for me personally. I think we were all really invested in each other’s plays by the end….”
director
I am a theater artist creating theatrical experiences that honor the complexity of human identity while building meaningful connections across differences. The personal is political, art is political, especially since my artistry is informed by all the identities I hold.
I seek opportunities to direct new plays and musicals, especially touching on themes of…
- Self and Community
- Beauty and Danger
- Old and New
I am looking for creative collaborations bringing stories to life about young girls and women (historical and current), Filipinas, Asian-American folks, Pacific Islander folks, and islanders.

theater teaching artist
My creative path started with a love of musical theater as a kid, nurtured with a love of Shakespeare in high school and at Wellesley College, and augmented with a love of writing and performing my own work. I teach, coach, and mentor students K-12 as a teaching artist and Theatre for Young Audiences actor. I offer virtual 1:1 tutoring and online, and you can see my Outschool offerings here. I am most drawn to new work, plays and musicals, with sprinklings of adaptations and Shakespeare. If you’re looking for a collaborator, let’s get in touch!

college application coach
High school students are overlooking the college application process as an important time of self-discovery. I help creative high school students start from research all the way to completed application, so that they can submit their applications with confidence. Inspired by my own journey of not following the traditional conservatory route, I help my clients to move through the process with clarity about themselves as artists and human beings. More ease, imagination, and curiosity, please! Message me for personalized college applications support from a professional theater artist living and working in Southern California.
